Showcasing the all-around kickboxing skills needed to compete at a higher level, Lockport’s Joe Taylor manhandled Cortland’s Mike Diorio in atypical fashion on Saturday night in the main event of “HAVOC” fight card at the Kenan Arena.

From what was once a quiet pit stop along the Erie Barge Canal on young America’s super highway of the 19th century to the home and frequent host of some of the best boxers, kickboxers and trainers in the Northeast United States today, Lockport is the undeniable mecca of rising stars on the national ring stage.

Joe “Son of a Legend” Taylor shook off a close, split-decision loss two months ago to Canadian Joe George at the Kenan Arena, by knocking out the man who once beat George, Ariel Sepulveda of the Dominican Republic, at Glory 43 at MSG, boxing’s greatest venue in the world.

Kevin VanNostrand’s last appearance in the GLORY ring was a February 2016 decision loss to Giga Chikadze at GLORY 27 CHICAGO. A year and a half later, in his home state of New York, he got his revenge, out-landing Chikadze to take a decision win and victory in the Featherweight Contender Tournament.

Canada’s Joe George utilized his height and experience to the hilt, beating Lockport’s Joe Taylor by split decision on Saturday night to capture the WKA Northeast Cruiserweight Championship at the Kenan Arena. All was not disappointment for the home folks, however, with an inspirational knockout win by Lockport’s Eric Plumeri and victories by Papa Sean Felton, Nate Woods and Brandon Mindoro.
